Sawcutting a pothole repair. Potholes are caused by many reasons. They are unsightly and dangerous. Throwing asphalt into the pothole is not a good repair. At A-1 Asphalt Services we sawcut the pothole to remove the asphalt that is damaged within the pavement. Removing the damaged asphalt will allow the repair to adhere better and will decrease the likeliness of that pothole reappearing. Have you ever noticed those black curly lines on the highway? This is crack filler. A-1 Asphalt Services crackfilling is done with a flexible joint sealer. The crack is first cleaned and dried, then the joint sealer is heated to 375 degrees. We then proceed to pour the heated crack filler into the properly prepared crack. Doing this in such a manner will provide a permanent seal to keep out water and prevent further asphalt deterioration. The surface will be traffic ready in as little as 30 minutes.
